The Department of Engineering Services

The Department of Engineering Services is accountable for the appropriate provision, supervision, coordination and management of all engineering works within Mufulira District, in pursuant to the provisions of the Town and Country Planning Act, Public Health (Building Regulations) Act, and other statutory provisions. The major responsibilities include life-saving and fire services, land surveys and road maintenance and regulating building standards. The department is responsible for rehabilitation, maintenance and construction of infrastructure and provision of Engineering Services

Units Under the Department of Engineering Services

1. Civil Engineering Unit

The Civil Engineering unit in Zambian local authorities is primarily responsible for the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of public infrastructure within the district. 2. Electrical Engineering Unit

6. Parks & Gardens Unit

7. Rural Water Supply & Sanitation Unit

In Zambia, the Rural Water Supply & Sanitation (RWSS) Unit within Local Authorities (LAs) is crucial for implementing national goals, focusing on planning, coordinating, monitoring, and supporting rural water access and sanitation by managing infrastructure (boreholes, handpumps), ensuring community participation (WASHE structures), overseeing maintenance/repairs, collecting data, and facilitating training for sustainability, working under the Ministry of Local Government’s policy guidance to achieve universal access.
